5/4/12 Updated With New Confirms and Cancels

Wow, it’s been a few days since my last posting.  Been busy busy busy!  That didn’t keep my mind from some hot titles.  Seeing as we are reaching the end of the first quarter, I thought I’d share an update on what games I’m watching!

Games With US Confirmation:
-XenoBlade Chronicles (Wii) I have to admit, the Wii has never brought anything to my attention that had me interested. I mainly got it as a family piece, and since then it’s collected dust. Xenoblade aims to change that. Set in a massive open world, it looks as if it’s set upon 2 massive giants that once combatted. The combat is almost similar to FF12 I believe. Very interesting, very beautiful for the Wii console, and a game I’m looking forward to playing. (Out Now)
-Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention (Vita) I never chance to grab this game on the PS3, but now since it’s coming to the Vita, I’m excited to delve hours into this massive looking game.  Disgaea 2 on the PSP had my attention for quite some time, I’m sure this one will as well.  Adding great new features such as voicing and animated ‘stills’, it seems like a great buy. (Out Now)
-Resistance: Burning Skies (Vita) The first real shooter for the Vita.  I’m excited to see it hopefully shoot the sales of Vita up.  I’ve enjoyed the Resistance series, and am looking forward to this real take on handheld FPS. (Confirmed May 29)
-Gravity Rush (Vita) Yeah, you probably seen this coming if you have read my blog.  Gravity Rush is simply amazing looking.  It’s my most anticipated game of 2012 hands down.  I’m just sad it didn’t come sooner.  If it weren’t for the high dollar exchange, I’d have imported it!  You play as Kat who is given power to control gravity.  Using this ability, she’s able to set any destination as a new source of gravity’s law.  Great concept and a new IP to take the market by storm! (Confirmed June 12) Read more…

I save the best for last.  In this epic episode we pay tribute to one of our favorite series ever.  Final Fantasy!  At first we go over each Final Fantasy and give a quick review.  We follow that up with answering a few prewritten questions on Final Fantasy including our best and worst.  To conclude we discuss where FF was, where it’s going, and what do we think of the direction it’s going.  A pretty long episode, but FF is so worth it.

We hope you enjoy!

That concludes our Podcast Episode catch-up.  We should have our next recording session on the 22nd, look forward to it!

2012 Looking Up For JRPGs

January 2, 2012 5 comments

Life of a fan of Japanese gaming from the west has it’s ups and downs.  At times you get great games to spend hours upon.  While at other times you go so long wondering if Japan still loves you.  Getting a localization of great titles just seems like pulling teeth at times.  Well, it almost seemed like 2011 was one of those years.

Well, negativity aside, it looks like 2012 is shaping up.  Companies are looking to bring their great titles to the west and JRPG fans are ready to snag them up.  Here’s a lineup I put together to get you all as excited as I am.  Some may debate that some arn’t “RPG”, you get the gist.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 (PSP): While Sega told Gamespot a solid ‘no’ to it’s localization in the west, after a huge signature campagne the question of their minds being changed went up in the air again.  Maybe we won’t see it on PSP, but there’s still a chance for a Vita port which would be amazing.  So.. while most my hopes are shattered, I still keep shred somewhere in the back of my mind.  [Unconfirmed – Unlikely]

Tales of Graces f (PS3): Finally an amazing new Tales title is coming to America.  This installment is the first PS3 exclusive Tales game for the West and it gets the amazing sharpness in graphics to support it.  I may have to get a second PS3 on standby because I may kill my PS3 playing this to death.  [Confirmed March 13 Release Date] Read more…

Final Fantasy Type-0 Finally Confirmed?

Well, it’s been quite a long wait.  Screenshot after video after demo of awesome FFT0 content but with no localization in sight.  It’s no wonder being as the sales are so terrible in the west for PSP but couple that with the looming Vita release in only a couple months.

However today after some looking around it looks as if some rumors are getting merit.  First Vandal, a Spanish website, posted an interview that Yoshinori Kitase hinted they were working on US/EU version.  It was then removed.  So noone could really confirm if it was a typo or a cover. Read more…

Great Times for PSP and Final Fantasy -Update-

I am so excited for the remakes on, and coming to, the PSP console.  If anyone is a fan of Final Fantasy, all I have to say is “Get a PSP!”

They have already released a slew of remakes.  But on top of that, they have also released original titles including Crisis Core.  Which in my opinion was a classic (beside some flaws here and there), make sure to check my review on that.

Here is a list of Final Fantasy games that are coming or already here: Read more…
